Our tips for your stay
Welcome to the most beautiful city in the world!
When Hamburgers talk about their city, Hanseatic modesty is briefly cast aside and a surprising amount of emotion is displayed for northern Germans. In our opinion, the metropolis on the Elbe is indeed one of the most beautiful places in the world to live in.
Our Bucket List
Do not miss out on these must-see sights when visiting Hamburg for the first time.
Visit the Elbphilharmonie
A must-see, Hamburg’s newest landmark, which opened in 2017.
Enjoy a night stroll along the Reeperbahn
Take the U3 underground line directly to the “St. Pauli” station. This is where the Reeperbahn begins, Hamburg’s party and red-light mile, stretching all the way to the “Große Freiheit”.
Gaze over Hamburg’s rooftops from the “Michel”
One of the best views over Hamburg is definitely from Hamburg’s old landmark, the “Michel”.
Hamburg with children
An adventure tour through Hamburg for young and old!
Miniatur Wunderland
The largest model railway in the world has a lot to offer.
Hamburg Dungeon
Let yourself be carried back in time to the 600 years of dark Hamburg history.
Hagenbeck’s Zoo
Hamburg’s animal hotspot! Where over 200 species of animals are kept in a manner appropriate to their species.
Day trips to the surrounding area
While enjoying your extended stay in the metropolis on the Elbe, it is worth exploring the surrounding area.
Baltic Sea
Around 750 kilometres of coastline with fine sandy beaches, natural beaches and cliffs.
North Sea
Low tide meets high tide, kilometre-long bathing beaches meet untouched salt marshes and Frisian serenity.
Southern Elbe
White-pink blossoming cherry trees and juicy apples, magnificent half-timbered houses and green dykes.
SUP Tour
What’s the best way to explore Hamburg? By water, of course! In summer, the Alster is full of numerous sailing and pedal boats. Why not rent a SUP (Stand Up Paddle) board and explore the countless canals by water. A beautiful circular route takes you along the Alster, Goldbekkanal, a detour to Stadtparksee and back to the Alster via the Osterbekkanal.
SEEHAUS HAMBURG
Life is better at the lake!
The Seehaus Hamburg, formerly “Kajüte”, is directly on the Outer Alster.
With a wonderful view over the Alster, you can enjoy champagne, cocktails, oysters, sushi, and fresh fish. In summer, the terrace and the jetty in the middle of the boats invite you to dangle your feet in the water and enjoy the beautiful sunset.
BOOTSHAUS ALSTER
The restaurant “Bootshaus Alster” is located directly on the Binnenalster at Ballindamm. In the old Schiff restaurant, you can dine with excellent sushi & steak with a beautiful view of the Alster and the Jungfernstieg.
